Woman Killed and 4 Injured in Antioch Car Accident on Somersville Road
Antioch, California (May 26, 2021) – A 68-year-old woman was killed in a multi-vehicle collision that left four other people injured in Antioch on Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened in the 2000 block of Somersville Road at the offramp from Highway 4, just outside a Denny’s restaurant, at about 12:17 p.m. May 25.
A vehicle was traveling northbound on Somersville when it drifted into the southbound lanes and collided with two southbound vehicles, according to the California Highway Patrol.
68-year-old Woman Killed in Multi-Car Pileup in Antioch
The driver of the northbound vehicle sustained moderate injuries in the accident. A 68-year-old female passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. A second passenger was transported to the hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. All three were Antioch residents.
The drivers of the southbound vehicles suffered minor injuries in the accident.
The police ruled out drugs and alcohol as factors in the crash.
A separate injury crash on Highway 4 caused by traffic backup resulting from the fatal collision was reported.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
