Woman Hospitalized after Fresno Accident Involving DUI Suspect at Palm and Olive Avenues
Fresno, California (February 11, 2022) – A woman was critically injured after being hit by a pickup truck whose driver ran a red light after a hit-and-run crash Thursday night near Fresno’s Tower District, as per a local news source.
The incident happened at Palm Avenue and Olive Avenue.
According to Fresno police, the driver of the pickup truck initially collided with a white SUV near Palm and McKinley avenues and fled the scene.
As the pickup truck approached the intersection of Palm and Olive, the driver ran a red light and hit a 25-year-old woman. The driver then crashed through a bus bench and a fence of a nearby home. Police said the motorist attempted to flee on foot, but the SUV driver, who had been following the suspect after the first crash, tracked him down and brought him to police.
First responders found the woman lying in the middle of the intersection unresponsive but breathing. She was rushed to Fresno Community Regional Medical Center in critical but stable condition.
The suspect driver was arrested and will face charges in felony DUI and other misdemeanor charges.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
