Woman Killed in Car Accident on Highway 246 near Skytt Mesa Road in Solvang
Santa Barbara County, California (October 6, 2022) – A 73-year-old woman was killed in a crash that occurred on a highway between Buellton and Solvang on Wednesday afternoon.
At around 1 p.m., the California Highway Patrol received reports of a traffic collision on Highway 246 near Skytt Mesa Road.
A car stopped along the highway reportedly pulled out in an attempt to make a U-turn and was clipped by a Honda CRV. The impact of the collision caused the Honda to crash into a tree.
The 73-year-old woman from San Juan Bautista who was driving the Honda was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria where she died while receiving treatment.
A passenger in the Honda was also hospitalized with moderate injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries in the accident.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
