William Ainsworth Killed in Car Accident at Highway 152 and Palm Avenue in Merced County
Merced County, California (October 5, 2021) – 64-year-old William Ainsworth has been identified by the Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office as the Dos Palos man who was killed in a car crash in Merced County on Friday night.
The deadly collision happened at about 8:38 p.m. October 1, in the area of Highway 152 and Palm Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
51-year-old Pedro Rambia, of Avenal, was driving a 2018 Kenworth big rig pulling a set of doubles loaded with tomatoes south on Palm Avenue.
The truck was attempting to cross eastbound Highway 152 and was hit by an eastbound 2021 Toyota Camry driven by W. Ainsworth Jr., 38, of Visalia.

The Toyota became lodged beneath the trailers.
Ainsworth, who was the right-front passenger, of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Ainsworth Jr. sustained major injuries in the accident and was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto.
Rambia was unhurt.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
