Pete Castillo Injured in Fatal Tulare County Collision on Road 144 near State Route 201
Tulare County, California (April 11, 2022) – Pete Castillo, 67, was injured in a fatal crash that left a suspected DUI driver dead in Tulare County on Thursday evening, according to CHP.
The incident was reported at around 4:56 p.m. on April 8, on Road 144 north of State Route 201.
The CHP said a 41-year-old man was driving a 2007 Honda south on Road 144 when he swerved into the path of oncoming vehicles and collided head-on with a northbound 2001 Honda driven by Castillo.
According to the report, Castillo tried to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful.
The two drivers were taken to Kaweah Health Medical Center, where the driver of the 2007 Honda succumbed to his injuries at 9 p.m.
The deceased motorist had earlier been arrested on DUI charges.
Castillo was treated for moderate injuries.
An investigation into the fatal accident remains ongoing.
