Man Hospitalized after University City Scooter Accident on Nobel Drive
University City, California (August 1, 2022) – A 47-year-old man was hospitalized with critical injuries after colliding with a vehicle while riding a Bird scooter on Monday afternoon in University City, San Diego.
The authorities said the accident happened at around 2:19 p.m. in the 4100 block of Nobel Drive.
The scooter rider was going eastbound when he made a left turn and crashed into the front side of a Hyundai Elantra traveling westbound.
Police said the rider sustained life-threatening injuries, including major soft tissue damage to the head and face and a fractured right femur.
The driver of the Elantra, a 58-year-old woman, was not injured.
Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
