Jose Juarez and Pamela Juarez Killed in Merced Car Accident at Santa Fe Drive Spaceport Entry
Atwater, California (July 2, 2021) – The Merced County Coroner’s Office has publicly identified the couple killed in a car crash in Atwater on Friday night, June 13.
The deadly collision happened in the area of Santa Fe Drive and Spaceport Entry at about 9:43 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
A preliminary investigation established that 56-year-old Pamela Juarez was driving a 2012 Honda westbound on Santa Fe Drive when she was rear-ended by a 2012 Lexus ES350 driven by a 20-year-old King Vanga, of Atwater.
The impact of the crash sent the Lexus off the roadway where it crashed into a chain-link fence and flipped over.
The Honda spun out of control in the eastbound lanes and caught fire.

Pamela and his husband, 57-year-old-Jose Juarez, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Vanga was hospitalized with moderate injuries in the accident. He was later arrested on multiple charges including suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, resisting arrest, misdemeanor battery, and taking or removing a firearm from a peace officer.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
