Berkeley, California (September 5, 2021) – A Berkeley police officer was injured in a motorcycle accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon in Berkeley.

The collision happened at around 1:20 p.m. September 4, at the intersection of Sacramento Street and Dwight Way.

As per the preliminary investigation, two Berkeley Police Department officers were riding their motorcycles southbound on Sacramento Street while responding to an injury collision in South Berkeley.

A teen driver reportedly failed to stop to let the officers pass and struck one of the officers causing severe injuries.

The officer was taken to Highway Hospital for treatment.

The teenage girl remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

Alcohol and drugs were not suspected of having played a role in the crash.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
