Man Killed in Redding Motorcycle Accident on Cypress Avenue near Bechelli Lane
Redding, California (June 25, 2021) – The Redding Police Department (RPD) has released more details of a motorcycle accident that claimed the life of a 66-year-old man in Redding on Thursday afternoon
The fatal motorcycle accident happened on Cypress Avenue near Bechelli Lane at about 2:04 p.m. June 24.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a Penske truck and a motorcycle were traveling westbound on Cypress Avenue.
The motorcyclist was attempting to pass the truck in the center turn lane when the truck made a left turn into Redding Subaru.
The bike crashed into the driver’s side of the truck and became trapped underneath the drug.

The motorcycle caught fire as it was being dragged into the parking lot.
The rider, who was identified only as a 66-year-old Redding man, was seriously injured in the crash and was transported to an area hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
The California Highway Patrol’s Commercial Enforcement Unit responded to the incident and discovered several commercial transportation violations on the Penske truck. The CHP said they found over 900 catalytic converters inside.
The RPD is yet to establish the origin of the load.
