Tuolumne Woman Dies in Sonora Motorcycle Accident on Highway 108 at Mono Way
Sonora, California (June 29, 2022) – A 57-year-old woman from Tuolumne died on Tuesday morning following a motorcycle accident in Sonora.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident happened at around 7:30 a.m. on Highway 108 near the Mono Way onramp.
A 2020 Harley Davidson Street Glide was traveling westbound on the highway when the rider attempted to pass a slow-moving semi-truck and collided with a 2019 Chevrolet Cruze.
The motorcyclist was ejected from the bike following the impact of the crash and came to rest about 200 feet down an embankment.
The rider suffered severe injuries and was flown to Memorial Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
CHP said the deceased was not wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the crash.
The name of the deceased was not released pending notification of the next of kin.
The driver of the Chevy, Carlene Valdez, 70, of Jamestown, was not injured.
Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
