Bakersfield, California (June 8, 2022) – A motorcyclist was killed and two other people were injured in a collision at an intersection in Bakersfield on Monday night.

According to the authorities, the accident happened at around 9:20 p.m. in the area of Taft Highway and Heather Meadows Drive.

The Bakersfield Police Department said the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Taft Highway when he was hit by a vehicle heading in the same direction.

BPD said the driver of the vehicle made an unsafe U-turn directly in front of the motorcycle, causing the collision.

The rider sustained major injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Two other people suffered minor injuries. One was taken to hospital, and the other remained at the scene.

The identity of the deceased person was not revealed.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
