Maurilio Heredia Herrera Killed in Highway 65 Car Crash at James Road in Bakersfield
Kern County, California (July 13, 2021) – 27-year-old Maurilio Heredia Herrera has been identified as the driver who was killed in a head-on collision that left a second person injured in Bakersfield on Sunday morning, July 11.
The deadly collision happened on Highway 65 at James Road at about 12:13 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol established that Herrera was driving a 2003 Infiniti southbound on Highway 65 when he drifted into the opposite lanes and collided head-on with a northbound 2011 Chevrolet.
Carson Man Killed in Bakersfield Head-On Collision on Highway 65 Identified
Herrera, a Carson resident, sustained major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kern County Coroner.
The Bakersfield man who was driving the Chevrolet sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Kern Medical for treatment.
Additional information about the accident was not provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
