Marvin Hernandez Killed, 2 Injured in Turlock Car Crash on Highway 99 near Fulkerth Road
Turlock, California (June 3, 2021) – Marvin Hernandez, 44, of Daly City, has been identified as the man who was killed in a fiery wrong-way car crash in Turlock, Stanislaus County, on Tuesday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway 99 north of Fulkerth Road on May 31.
At about 10:15 p.m., the officers received reports of a red Ford Focus that was traveling northbound on the southbound lanes of the highway.
The officers responded to the incident and found Hernandez “slumped over the steering wheel” of the Ford with its lights on and engine running.
The officers tapped on the window to wake him up and he accelerated before colliding head-on with a gray Chevy Silverado.
Man Killed in Highway 99 Wrong-Way Crash in Turlock Identified
Hernandez died in the collision, the CHP said.
The unidentified driver of the Chevy was hospitalized with minor injuries.
A passenger in the Chevy was seriously injured in the accident and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Highway 99 was shut down for about eight hours as the authorities examined the scene.
Although an investigation into the accident is ongoing, the authorities believe alcohol was a contributing factor.
