Dos Palos, California (September 30, 2021) – 50-year-old Martina Lopez Valdez, of Dos Palos, has been identified by the Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Bureau as the driver who was killed in a collision with a farm tractor on Wednesday morning in Merced County.
The deadly collision happened at the intersection of Turner Island Road and Palazzo Road near Dos Palos at about 6:30 a.m. September 29.
The California Highway Patrol said Valdez was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Spark southbound on Turner Island Road when he collided head-on with a 2017 Challenger tractor with an attached furrow chisel.
Driver Killed in Head-On Collision with Farm Tractor in Merced County Identified
Valdez was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The condition of the tractor driver, 54-year-old Joaquin Hernandez, of Dos Palos, was not disclosed.
Intoxication was ruled out as a factor in the collision.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
