Orange County, California (August 8, 2021) – A man was killed and a woman was seriously injured after being struck by a car as they rode a tandem bicycle in Huntington Beach on Sunday morning.

The collision happened in the area of Magnolia Street and Hamilton Avenue at about 8:50 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 74-year-old man and his 82-year-old wife were riding a tandem bike when they were struck by a 2005 Ford Explorer.

The two were seriously injured in the accident and were transported to an area hospital where the man died while undergoing treatment, the CHP said.

The names of the victims were not immediately disclosed.

Intoxication was ruled out as a factor in the crash.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
