2 Nevada Residents Killed in Modesto Multi-Vehicle Pileup on Hwy 132 near Texas Road Identified
Modesto, California (May 28, 2021) – Two people who were killed in a multi-vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 132 in Modesto on Thursday morning have been identified.
According to the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office, 32-year-old Malcolm Jones, of Nevada, and 33-year-old Ashley Stringer, of Henderson, Nevada, were killed in the crash.
At about 6:30 a.m. May 27, Jones was driving an Acura westbound on Highway 132 near Texas Road and was trying to pass traffic ahead of him when he came upon an eastbound big rig.
The driver of the big rig swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision and the Acura crashed into the rear axle of the big rig.
The impact of the crash caused the Acura to spin within the eastbound lane where it was struck by a second big rig.
2 People Killed in Modesto Crash with Big Rigs on Hwy 132 Identified
Jones and Stringer were ejected from their vehicle following the impact of the crash.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Stringer was rushed to Doctors Medical Center where she died while undergoing treatment.
Stringer’s 3-year-old daughter who was riding in the car was flown to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento with minor to moderate injuries.
Child Protective Services is assisting the child.
The drivers of the big rigs were unhurt.
The highway was closed until noon as the officers examined the scene.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
