Larry Sherman Johnson III Killed in Motorcycle Accident at Merle Haggard Drive and Airport Drive
Bakersfield, California (July 31, 2021) – Larry Sherman Johnson III, 26, has been identified by the Kern County Coroner as the motorcyclist who died after colliding with a big rig in Oildale last week Friday morning.
The deadly motorcycle accident happened in the area of Merle Haggard and Airport drives at about 12:15 a.m. July 23.
A big rig was traveling the wrong way on Merle Haggard Drive when it struck Sherman Johnson who was riding a motorcycle, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The impact of the crash sent the big rig over the center median and into multiple trees.
Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with Semi-Truck in Oildale Identified
Larry, a resident of Bakersfield, was killed in the accident.
The driver of the big rig remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
