Khamlounh Thammaaly Dies in Fort Tejon Accident on I-5 near Grapevine Road
Fort Tejon, California (June 29, 2022) – A woman who died in a multi-vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday night in Fort Tejon, south of Bakersfield, has been identified as Khamlounh Thammaaly, 63, of Arvin.
The accident occurred on the southbound lanes of Interstate 5, just south of Grapevine Road, at around 10 p.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Peterbilt truck driven by John Mc Cord, 59, of Tehachapi, a Toyota Tundra driven by P. Thammaaly, 41, of Modesto, and an Acura ILX driven by Jhovanni Hernandez, 27, of San Jose, were involved in the collision.
The circumstances under which the accident occurred were not immediately established.
Khamlounh was a passenger in the Toyota and was killed in the crash.
Thammaaly and another passenger sustained minor injuries.
CHP said McCord and Hernandez were not injured.
Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the accident.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
