Kaulana Miller Killed in Valley Center Motorcycle Crash at Irish Oaks Rd and Valley Center Rd
Valley Center, California (May 26, 2021) – A 26-year-old motorcyclist who died after being struck by a suspected drunk driver in Valley Center earlier this month has been publicly identified.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the fatal motorcycle accident happened at Irish Oaks Road and Valley Center Road at about 1:45 p.m. May 16.
Kaulana Miller, a Valley Center resident, was riding his motorcycle in the area when he was struck by a pickup truck that was making a left-hand turn from Irish Oaks Road onto Valley Center Road.
Miller was rushed to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido where he later died, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Suspect Arrested after Fatal DUI Motorcycle Accident in Valley Center
The pickup truck driver, Oswaldo Garcia, 39, was arrested and charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving without a valid license.
Garcia had been arrested in March 2020 and March of this year for separate traffic violations and was released from custody pending his arraignment later this summer.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
