Bakersfield, California (February 28, 2023) – Juana Torres de Calderon, 53, has been identified as the woman who died in a crash involving a suspected drunk driver in Bakersfield earlier this month.
The fatal collision happened on Highway 65 near Famoso Road on the morning of February 14, according to a report by the authorities.
William Pederson, 54, was driving a gray Ram truck northbound on Highway 65 when he drifted across the double yellow line and collided head-on with another vehicle.
Calderon was inside the second vehicle and was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
Pederson suffered minor injuries. He was later arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter while drunk.
