Cottonwood, California (July 29, 2021) – Two men were hospitalized after being injured in a car accident in Cottonwood on Tuesday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Interstate 5 Freeway near Hooker Creek Road at about 8:15 p.m. July 27.

The police established that 56-year-old Joseph Dalessia, of Corona, was driving a 2014 Dodge Ram southbound on the freeway at unsafe speed when he crashed into the rear of a Kenworth semi-truck driven by 59-year-old Troy Lynn Tempest, of Spanaway.

Dalessia and his passenger, 45-year-old Elton James Spain, of Burney, were injured in the crash and were transported to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
