San Diego, California (June 5, 2021) – Two San Diego police officers who were killed in a wrong-way car crash in San Ysidro on Friday, June 4, have been identified as a married couple.

33-year-old Jamie Huntley-Park and 32-year-old Ryan Park were killed in the 10:02 a.m. crash on Interstate 5 Freeway near Dairy Mart Road

According to the California Highway Patrol, the couple was riding in a department-issued white Ford sedan when they collided head-on with a Honda Civic that was traveling northbound on the southbound lanes.

The Honda burst into flames after the collision.

The Parks and the driver of the Honda Civic were killed in the crash.

2 SDPD Detectives Killed in Wrong-Way Crash in San Ysidro Identified

Huntley-Park was a detective with the department’s Southern Division while Ryan Park was a homicide detective.

The couple met in the police academy in 2012 and got married in 2016.

The authorities were yet to establish if alcohol and drugs were a contributing factor in the crash.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
