James Venenciano Killed in Fremont Car Crash on I-880 Freeway near Aladdin Avenue
Fremont, California (July 9, 2021) – James R. Venenciano, 70, was killed in a suspected DUI car crash on the 880 Freeway in Fremont on Thursday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision happened on Interstate 880 near the Aladdin Avenue overcrossing at about 12:07 a.m. July 8.
Venenciano was reportedly driving an Acura MDX southbound on the freeway when he crashed into a semi-truck for unknown reasons.
The impact of the collision caused the Acura to crash into a concrete center median before bouncing into the traffic lanes where it was struck by a passing Nissan.
Man Killed in Fremont Car Accident on I-880 Freeway
Venenciano, a resident of Fremont, was transported to an area hospital where he died while undergoing treatment, the CHP said.
The drivers of the Nissan and the semi-truck were unhurt.
The Nissan driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
