Jakayah Lassiter Dies in Seal Beach Accident on 605 Freeway at 405 Freeway
Seal Beach, California (June 1, 2022) – The Orange County coroner’s office has identified the woman who was killed in an early Monday morning multi-vehicle collision in Seal Beach as 24-year-old Jakayah Lassiter from Long Beach.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident occurred on the HOV connector road from the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway and southbound San Diego (405) Freeway at around 3:29 a.m.
Lassiter was driving a 2007 Nissan Murano southbound in the HOV lane on the 605 Freeway when, for unknown reasons, she allowed the Nissan to veer left onto the center median and struck an attenuator barrier.
The Nissan came to a stop facing the wrong way and was hit by a 2015 Honda Accord driven by a 70-year-old Buena Park man.
Lassiter was killed in the crash.
The Buena Park man and his passenger, a 32-year-old Huntington Beach man, sustained multiple lacerations and fractures.
Paramedics responded to the crash and transported the patient to Long Beach Memorial Hospital for treatment.
No additional details regarding the crash were provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
