Jaime Perez Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Hellyer Ave near Ridgebrook Way in San Jose
San Jose, California (September 8, 2022) – Jaime Lopez Perez died after being struck by a suspected drunk driver in San Jose last weekend.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal pedestrian accident happened at around 3:30 a.m. on September 3, on Hellyer Avenue near Ridgebrook Way.
Perez was driving a 2007 Toyota sedan eastbound on the highway when he crashed into three parked cars.
The man exited the vehicle and was subsequently struck by a 2000 Dodge truck traveling westbound on Hellyer.
Perez was pronounced dead at the accident scene.
The driver of the Dodge, 23-year-old Rolando Lopez, remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
More details about the crash were not provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
