Accident News TeamGitan Whelan Dies in Red Bluff Motorcycle Accident on Reeds Creek Road at Johnson Road
Red Bluff, California (May 18, 2022) – A man who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Red Bluff on Friday afternoon, May 13, has been identified as 52-year-old Gitan Whelan.
The fatal crash was reported at around 4:35 p.m. on Reeds Creeks Road at Johnson Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Whelan was riding a 2018 Aprilia Dorsoduro motorcycle westbound on Reeds Creeks Road when for unknown reasons, he veered into opposite traffic and collided head-on with a 2015 Nissan Rogue.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and pronounced Whelan deceased.
The Nissan driver, Lisa Mann, 41, of Red Bluff, and her two passengers, ages 9 and 12, were not injured.
CHP said alcohol and drugs did not play a role in the crash.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
