Fernanda Martinez Killed in Imperial County Car Accident at Willoughby Rd and Dogwood Rd
Imperial County, California (August 6, 2021) – 25-year-old Fernanda Miramontes Martinez has been identified as the Calexico woman who was killed in a car crash in Heber on Tuesday afternoon.
The deadly collision happened in the area of Willoughby and Dogwood roads at about 2:35 p.m. August 3.
The California Highway Patrol said Martinez was driving a Jeep Compass eastbound on Willoughby Road when she collided with a white Ford F-250 that was traveling northbound on Dogwood.
The impact of the collision sent both vehicles into a canal along the right shoulder of westbound Willoughby. Both vehicles were fully submerged.
Pregnant Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Collision in Imperial County Identified
Martinez was killed in the accident.
The CHP also confirmed that the Calexico woman was pregnant at the time of her death.
The 29-year-old El Centro man who was driving the truck sustained minor lacerations to his arm and was able to swim away after the crash.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
