Evelyn Linares Killed in El Segundo Car Accident on 105 Freeway near Nash Street
El Segundo, California (April 25, 2022) – 35-year-old Evelyn Linares has been identified as the driver who was killed in a head-on collision in El Segundo early Sunday morning.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident happened at about 1:13 a.m. on 105 Freeway near Nash Street.
Linares was driving a silver 2015 Toyota Camry on the eastbound lanes of the freeway when, for unknown reasons, she drifted into the westbound lane and collided head-on with an on-coming black 2017 Toyota Prius.
The Prius driver, a 35-year-old Manhattan Beach man, tried to swerve right to avoid the collision, but he was unsuccessful.
Linares was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Prius driver sustained major injuries and was taken to Harbor UCLA Medical Center for treatment.
Police issued a SigAlert at around 1:45 a.m., and it was lifted after two hours.
Alcohol and drugs did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
No other details about the crash were provided.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
