Ernesto Garin Killed in Semi-Truck Accident on Walnut Avenue near Jefferson Avenue in Fresno
Fresno, California (August 27, 2021) – 17-year-old Ernesto Garin was killed in a crash involving a big rig near Easton in Fresno County on Thursday evening.
At about 7 p.m. on August 26, the California Highway Patrol received reports of a collision on Walnut Avenue north of Jefferson Avenue.
The officers established that a big rig was traveling north on Walnut Avenue when it collided with the teen driver’s pickup truck that was traveling westbound on Jefferson Avenue.
Teenage Driver Killed in Collision Involving Big Rig at Fresno Intersection Identified
The pickup truck slid under the trailer of the semi after the collision, pinning the teenage driver.
Garin, a football player at Washington Union High, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the big rig was uninjured. He remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
Intoxication was ruled out as a factor in the crash.
More details about the collision were not immediately provided.
The CHP is investigating the crash.
