Diego Valencia Killed in Car Crash on 5 Freeway near State Route 126 in Castaic
Castaic, California (February 23, 2022) – A Castaic man was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Castaic on Tuesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly collision happened on the northbound 5 Freeway near State Route 126 at around 10:10 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
23-year-old Diego Valencia, of Castaic, was driving a 2002 Volkswagen Golf when he crashed into the center median concrete barrier. The vehicle then came to rest on the roadway and was hit by a 2019 Hyundai Ioniq driven by a 42-year-old Sylmar man.
Valencia was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
The Sylmar man driving the Hyundai suffered minor injuries in the accident.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
