Dean Lyles Killed in DUI Car Crash at Sycamore Avenue and Main Street in Orange
Orange, California (July 21, 2021) – 73-year-old Dean Lyles has been identified as the man who was killed in a suspected DUI car crash in Orange on Sunday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision happened at West Sycamore Avenue and North Main Street at about 4:20 p.m. July 18.
23-year-old Manuel Antonio Sanchez Contreras was driving a Honda Accord at a high rate of speed when he rear-ended Dean’s Mazda Protégé at the intersection.

The impact of the collision pushed the Mazda into the El Camino Park.
The CHP said Dean had been driving northbound and was attempting to turn left onto Sycamore Avenue when the collision occurred.
Lyles, a resident of the city of Orange, was killed in the accident.
Contreras was arrested and charged with DUI.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
