Daniel Raper Killed in Head-On Collision on Highway 101
Del Norte County, California (August 10, 2021) – A Crescent City man was killed in a head-on collision that occurred in the Klamath area of Del Norte County on Friday, August 6.
The California Highway Patrol said 66-year-old Daniel Raper was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer northbound on Highway 101 when he veered across the double yellow line for unknown reasons and collided head-on with a 2017 Acura MDX driven by Xiangping Zhang.

Raper was killed in the accident, the CHP said.
Zhang and his two passengers, 48-year-old Ling Yang and 12-year-old Edward Zhang, were were injured in the crash and were transported to Sutter Coast Hospital by Del Norte Ambulance.
Alcohol and drugs were ruled out as factors in the crash.
Klamath Fire Protection District and Yurok Tribal Police also responded to the crash.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
