Christopher Dixon Killed, Several Injured in Adelanto Collision on Highway 395
Adelanto, California (September 20, 2022) – 35-year-old Christopher Dixon was killed and several others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision caused by a distracted driver on Sunday evening in Adelanto.
The accident was reported at around 6:11 p.m. on Highway 395 near Southern California Logistics Airport.
According to the authorities, Dixon was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Caprice northbound on Highway 395 and had stopped waiting to make a left-hand turn onto Auburn Avenue.
At the same time, David Gillis, 49, of Georgia, was driving a 2015 Toyota Tundra behind the Caprice.
For unknown reasons, Gillis crashed into the back of Dixon’s car, pushed it into the southbound lane, and collided with a 2020 Dodge Durango driven by Juan Diaz-Pascasio, 33, of Victorville.
Due to the impact of the crash, the Toyota overturned, and Dixon was pronounced dead at the scene.
Diaz-Pascasio and his passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Gillis was not injured.
Distracted driving is suspected to be a factor in the crash.
The Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the crash and is working to determine the cause of the crash.
