South Lake Tahoe, California (August 7, 2021) – Two people were hospitalized after being injured in a car crash on Highway 89 in South Lake Tahoe on Friday morning, August 6.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 6:15 a.m. on State Route 89 near Luther Pass.

56-year-old Stevan Fairover, of Placerville, was driving a 2011 Dodge Ram pickup truck southbound on SR 89 when he drifted into the northbound lanes and sideswiped a gray Toyota Tundra pickup driven by 43-year-old Tristian Cormier, of Carmichael.

The pickup truck continued in the northbound lanes and collided head-on with an oncoming 2006 Chevy 2500 pickup driven by Christiana Gray, of Nevada.

Gray was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated before being transported to Barton Memorial Hospital for treatment, the CHP said.

Fairover was also hospitalized in unknown condition.

Cornier was unhurt.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
