Carlos Guadalupe Garza Dies after Crashing into Tow Truck on 5 Freeway near Main Street in National City, San Diego
San Diego, California (June 30, 2021) – 27-year-old Carlos Guadalupe Garza has been identified by the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office as the man who was killed in a collision with a tow truck on the 5 Freeway in National City on Saturday, June 19.
The deadly crash happened on the southbound Interstate 5 Freeway, just north of Main Street, at about 8:09 p.m.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Garza was driving a Black Honda Accord when he crashed into the rear of a semi-truck parked on the west shoulder of the freeway.

The sedan caught fire after the crash but was quickly extinguished by the tow truck driver.
Garza, a resident of San Diego, was killed in the accident.
The condition of the tow truck driver was not provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
