California Highway Patrol Investigating Deadly Firebaugh Car Accident

Firebaugh, California (April 8, 2022) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly car accident that happened Friday afternoon in Firebaugh.

The crash left a driver ejected and fatally injured.

Authorities received reports about the accident at around 5:38 p.m. on Nees Avenue, near Russell and Oxford avenues.

Police officers responded to the scene and conducted an initial investigation that revealed that a semi-truck was traveling west on Nees and a car was traveling east on Nees.

The car veered into the westbound lane under unclear circumstances and prompted the semi-truck driver to swerve to the right to avoid a crash. However, the car still hit part of the semi.

The semi overturned and came to a rest on the right side of the north shoulder, and the car veered into the south shoulder, ejecting the driver despite wearing his seatbelt.

First responders pronounced the car driver dead at the scene.

The driver of the big rig escaped without any injuries.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
