1 Killed in Cottonwood Bicycle Accident on Gas Point Road near Happy Valley Road
Cottonwood, California (May 27, 2021) – A 27-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run collision that killed a bicyclist in Cottonwood, Shasta County, on Tuesday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on the north shoulder of Gas Point Road near Happy Valley Road at about 11:05 a.m. May 25.
A man was riding a bicycle on the roadway when he was struck by a 1998 red Dodge Ram pickup that fled the scene after the collision.
The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene by the paramedics.
Suspect Arrested in Connection with Fatal Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident in Shasta County
The authorities established that Victoria M. McDaniel has been driving the vehicle at the time of the collision.
McDaniel was arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run and misdemeanor manslaughter and was booked into the Shasta County Jail.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
