Barbara L. Chavez Killed, Shannon Gene Milligan Arrested after Fontana Crash at Foothill Boulevard and Maple Avenue
Fontana, California (August 24, 2022) – A woman who was killed after her car was struck by an SUV at an intersection in Fontana on Sunday afternoon has been identified as 70-year-old Barbara L. Chavez.
According to the Fontana Police Department, the accident occurred at Foothill Boulevard and Maple Avenue at around 2:47 p.m.
Police said Shannon Gene Milligan, 47, was fleeing from another collision that happened in Rialto when he crashed into Chavez’s Honda sedan that was heading south on Maple.
Chavez was killed in the crash.
Milligan suffered minor injuries. His four passengers were unhurt.
Milligan was arrested and detained at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
No other details regarding the collision were provided.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
