Cyclist Killed in Azusa Crash Involving Azusa Motorcycle Officer
Azusa, California (February 1, 2022) – An Azusa motorcycle officer was on Monday night involved in a crash with a bicyclist near Cienega Avenue and Sunflower Avenue, as per authorities.
The collision left the cyclist dead and the officer nursing injuries.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the California Highway Patrol, firefighters, and paramedics responded to the scene shortly after the accident that happened at about 9:10 p.m.
The cause and manner of the crash were not immediately established.
The motorcycle officer and the bicyclist were taken to local trauma centers for treatment. The cyclist was later pronounced dead. The motorcycle officer is expected to recover from their injuries.
The accident forced the closure of the intersection by the sheriff’s deputies. CHP officers were also helping block traffic from nearby freeways.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
