Gregoria Ramirez, Lucero Lopez, and Alberto Lopez Dies After Placentia Crash at Orangethorpe and Melrose
Los Angeles, California (January 27, 2023) – Three persons killed in a suspected DUI collision on Wednesday night in Placentia have been identified by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office.
The accident occurred near Orangethorpe Avenue and Melrose Street at about 8:45 p.m. on January 26.
Authorities said a passenger van and a dark-colored Honda compact vehicle crashed, ejecting several van occupants.
24-year-old Mario Armando Paz, the Honda driver, reportedly ran a red light at the junction before crashing into the van.
36-year-old Alberto Vicente Lopez and 65-year-old Gregoria Ramirez were declared dead at the crash site.
Lucero Lopez, 10, died on her way to the hospital. Lucero’s 8-year-old brother and her mum were hospitalized and were expected to recover. At least four other persons were hurt in the accident.
Mario was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
