4 Killed and 3 Injured in Car Accident on 5 Freeway at Derrick Avenue in Fresno
Fresno, California (March 2, 2022) – The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has disclosed the identities of four Washington residents who were killed in a Wednesday morning car crash in Fresno, that left three other people injured.
The deadly collision happened on the southbound lane of Interstate-5 at Derrick Avenue at around 9:30 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol said an SUV with seven people from Auburn, WA, was traveling south on I-5 when it crashed into a parked big rig that was along the shoulder.
The impact of the collision ejected some occupants from the SUV.
4 Washington States Residents Killed in Collision on I-5 in Fresno Identified
Officials say four people were killed in the accident, and have since been identified as 43-year-old Lute Fekitoa, 9-year-old Adimada Fekitoa, 35-year-old Naomi Cook and 13-year-old Keola James.
Three other people were hospitalized with major injuries.
Additional information about the accident was not provided.
CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
