3 Killed in Head-On Collision on 5 Freeway near Maxwell Rest Area in Williams
Colusa, California (August 22, 2022) – Three people were killed in a wrong-way car crash that happened in Williams on Monday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Interstate 5 Freeway near Maxwell rest area at around 12:45 a.m.
A woman was driving a Nissan Altima northbound in the southbound lanes when she collided head-on with a Nissan Altima occupied by four people.
Three occupants of the second car died in the collision.
The driver and a passenger of the wrong-way vehicle were injured in the collision and were transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Officials say DUI is being investigated as a suspected factor.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
