3 Women Die in Brentwood Amtrak Train Collision at Orwood Road and Bixler Road
Brentwood, California (June 27, 2022) – Three women died, and four other people, including a child, were injured after a car was struck by an Amtrak train on Sunday afternoon in Brentwood.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the tragic incident occurred at around 1 p.m. at the Orwood Road and Bixler Road intersection.
The car had pulled into a long rural dirt driveway near the intersection when the train hit it, CHP said.
The impact of the crash threw the car off the road and was struck by another vehicle before coming to a stop about 60 feet away.
Three women in their 50s were killed in the crash.
Two men and a child suffered severe injuries and were taken to the John Muir Medical Center.
Another person was also taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
The Amtrak train stopped approximately a quarter of a mile from the scene of the crash.
None of the 80 passengers on the train were injured.
The accident remains under investigation.
