Selma, California (March 29, 2022) – Three people were hospitalized Monday after being struck by a car when they stopped to offer help to another driver during a hailstorm near Selma, in Fresno County, as per a local news source.

Police said rain and hail poured, leaving Manning Avenue covered with penny-sized hail and making it hard for drivers to navigate.

A vehicle of unknown description lost control and struck a brown pickup truck, causing it to crash into an almond orchard. The driver of the vehicle that hit the pickup truck did not stop.

Four people inside a BMW stopped to help the driver of the pickup truck. Unfortunately, the Good Samaritans and the BMW were struck by a white Jeep that lost control on the wet and icy road surface.

At least three of the Good Samaritans were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are searching for the hit-and-run driver.
