2 U.S. Border and Customs Officers Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision in Otay Mesa

Otay Mesa, California (May 27, 2021) – Three people including two on-duty U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers were injured in a two-vehicle collision in Otay Mesa on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a report by the Customs and Border Protection, the crash happened at Siempre Viva Road and Las Californias Drive, near Otay Mesa Cross Border Xpress pedestrian bridge to the Tijuana Airport, at about 4:20 p.m. May 26.

A pickup truck and an SUV were involved in the crash. One vehicle is reported to have T-boned another on the roadway in unclear circumstances.

2 Customs Officers Injured in Border Crash near Tijuana Airport

Two officers and a third person were injured in the crash and were taken to an area hospital for treatment. The authorities said all the injuries appeared to be minor.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
