2 SDPD Officers Killed in Fiery San Ysidro Crash on 5 Freeway near 905 Freeway

San Diego, California (June 4, 2021) – Two San Diego police officers were killed in a fiery head-on collision in San Ysidro on Friday morning.
The deadly collision happened at about 10:23 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near Dairy Mart Road.
A Honda Civic was reportedly traveling the wrong way when it slammed into the officers’ Ford patrol sedan.
The Honda caught fire after the collision.

Two officers and the driver of the Honda were killed in the crash, the San Diego Fire Department said.
It is unknown if the officers were on duty at the scene of the accident.
The crash resulted in the shutdown of the southbound lanes of I-5 at 905 Freeway.
No additional information was provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
