Bakersfield, California (June 3, 2021) – Two park rangers were injured in a car crash in Bakersfield on Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at about 2:18 p.m. June 2, on Alfred Harrell Highway near McMannus Road.

A county park ranger patrol vehicle and a black sedan were involved in the collision. A small sedan driven by a woman was traveling the wrong way when it slammed into an oncoming park patrol car.

Park Rangers Injured in Wrong-Way Crash on Alfred Harrell Highway in Bakersfield

The woman sustained major injuries in the crash and was transported to Kern Medical for treatment.

The two rangers were transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Alfred Harrell Highway was closed for two hours following the crash.

A CHP investigation into the accident is ongoing.
