2 Injured in Wrong-Way DUI Collision on Highway 116 near Arnold Drive in Sonoma
Sonoma, California (June 9, 2021) – Two people were seriously injured in a suspected DUI car crash in Sonoma on Monday evening, June 7.
At about 4:15 p.m. the California Highway Patrol responded to a reported two-vehicle collision on Highway 116 near Arnold Drive.
27-year-old Michael Tacchella, of Fremont, was driving a Honda Accord the wrong way on Highway 116 when he collided head-on with a Chevy Silverado.

The driver of the Silverado, identified only as a 36-year-old Rohnert Park man, was seriously injured in the accident and was transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa.
Tacchella was seriously injured in the accident and was flown in a CHP helicopter to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. He was later arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The CHP is investigating the cause of the accident.
