6 Children Injured in Oakland Car Crash at International Boulevard and 38th Avenue
Oakland, California (September 10, 2021) – Ten people including six children were hospitalized on Thursday night after being involved in a multi-vehicle collision in Oakland.
The accident happened at around 8:40 p.m. at the intersection of International Boulevard and 38th Avenue.
A minivan was traveling southbound on 38th Avenue when it was struck by a speeding Pontiac G6 that failed to stop at a red light on International Boulevard.
Two children were ejected from the van following the impact of the crash and were severely injured.
The Pontiac G6 then collided with a parked car that had no occupants.
Ten victims were taken to the hospital for treatment, the police said.
The driver of the Pontiac G6 tried to run away after the crash but was apprehended by a nearby resident.
Impairment was believed to be a factor in the crash, and the driver was arrested for DUI and hit and run.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
