Driver Dead after Kingsburg Train Accident at Sierra and Simpson Streets
Kingsburg, California (August 19, 2022) – A driver was killed after a train collided with a big rig in Kingsburg on Thursday night.
The accident happened at the intersection of Sierra and Simpson streets near Highway 99 at about 9 p.m.
The semi-truck driver was traveling westbound when for undetermined reasons, he went through a train crossing-arms while the train was closely approaching.
The train crashed into the truck, sparking flames and an explosion.
The truck driver was killed in the collision. His identity was not immediately revealed.
A cloud of thick smoke was seen billowing from the scene, and several roads and intersections were closed.
People were advised to avoid the scene and allow the emergency crew to do their work.
More details about the incident were not provided.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
